MINI Driving Modes Explained

Let’s Talk About Your MINI Cooper’s Personality

MINI Coopers have always been extremely expressive vehicles that offer versatility, athleticism, and sophistication at every turn. Striving to meet your needs at any given time, each one is fitted with a drive mode selector that allows you to change your MINI Cooper’s personality on cue. Whether you’re looking to maximize your efficiency with Green Mode, or you’re looking to raise the hairs on the back of your neck in sport, your MINI Cooper is just waiting for the command.

At MINI of South Miami, we want you to get the most out of your MINI Cooper. Let’s dive into the three core MINI Cooper driving modes, and find out how your meeting can change your personality.

Select Your MINI’s Driving Personality

Changing the personality of your MINI is as easy as flicking a switch. On late model MINI Coopers, your drive mode selector is located at the base of your gear selector. On some older model MINI Coopers, the drive mode switch is located on the center stack near your Start/Stop switch.

Green Mode
Green Mode helps maximize efficiency by modulating throttle and climate control for the most efficient characteristics. MINI Green Driving Mode makes further attempts to conserve fuel by disconnecting the transmission when you let off the gas – allowing you to coast. This mode will even provide interactive tips that help you to develop better driving habits to reduce fuel consumption.

Mid Mode
Mid Mode is the driving mode that your MINI defaults to on every startup. Providing the ultimate blend of performance and efficiency, this mode offers exciting yet efficient driving dynamics for everyday travel.

Sport Mode
Driving a MINI in sport mode will surely raise the hairs on the back of your neck. When Sport Mode is activated, throttle response is enhanced, steering is tightened, and if equipped, dampers are stiffened to provide that classic MINI go-kart-like handling. If your vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission, gears will be held longer to get the most out of your powerband.

Snow Mode
If your vehicle is equipped with an ALL4 all-wheel-drive system, you may notice that your vehicle also has Snow Mode. This unique driving mode makes changes to the traction control system, and allows for more wheelspin, so you can enjoy maximum grip and low traction situations.
